Your Bride Updo - What To Do and Not Do
By Lisa Lach
Let's face it the second time around is always the most fun when it comes to hair. Chances are you are not wearing a veil, so why not add a little to your fun hair. Try to go opposite of what you did the first time-be a little creative. Be more fun or romantic. Being you is most important. Feeling comfortable that day while you look sensational can take a little time and consideration so be prepared.
Seek help at least six months in advance. That way there's no surprises the day of your wedding. Bring pictures of different styles you like. You might like one picture because of the bangs, another picture because of the front of the hair; you're following me right? What I'm saying is don't afraid to be particular. But give a little room for your stylist to be a little creative.
Go early for your appointment and ask to see some of the Salon's UpDo books as a last resort. Many websites offer photos for you to browse through. Trying to give your stylist an idea to go on makes it that much easier achieving your desired look. Be patient. It's worth it for your hair. Remember your wedding only lasts a day; your pictures stay with you forever.
Here are some tips on what not to do and what to do, for your second time UpDo.
- Don't wait until the week before your wedding to find a stylist.
- Do try to book 3 trials with three different stylists 3 months in advance, unless you're happy with the 1st one you go with. If you've already booked the two other appointments, call and cancel. There's no explanation needed. Most trials are still free.
- Don't get a long veil. You probably already did that. Try something new.
- Do get some flowers or some rhinestones to enhance your wedding locks. Ask your florist for some greens. Stylists can get more creative when inspired by even the smallest thing.
- Don't get the traditional Tierra and wear tight curls, like they did in the 80's.
- Do get a Tierra wear your hair straight and let your do talk. Leave soft chunky pieces out.
- Don't use fake flowers. Why not pay the same price for fresh flowers? Try adding the "greenage" oppose to the flowers, see the new unique look you get. And really try not to plan to wear your hair up all night.
Ask your stylist when they put the back up to show you the pins you could take out to create a second look for later in the evening-try the half up half down and then dance the rest of your special night away, the second time around.
