While the draped pieces in Issa’s fall 2009 collection were designer Daniella Helayel’s sexy interpretation of monks’ robes, the hairstyles had a less conservative inspiration: model Alice Dellal, who walked in Issa’s show. To mimic the It Girl’s half-shaved head, hairstylist Malcolm Edwards—who refers to the show’s hairstyle as “Jerry Hall meets Alice Dellal”—applied L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.Art Pli and Texture Expert Smooth Essence to damp tresses and blow-dried. Next, he swept hair over to one side using Tecni.Art Volume Lift Mousse and Fix Design, weaving the length of hair into a long braid running down the middle of the head. Masses of extensions were then added to give strands a voluminous feel reminiscent of Jerry Hall’s curly side-swept ’80s do.
