Summer hair styles 2009

Summer has arrived, and what better way to celebrate than with changing your hairstyle? There are lots of celebrities sporting fashionable ‘dos at the moment, so be a copy-cat and get a new look!Summer hair styles 2009

The practical and elegant bob has already proved a favourite for 2009, with the glamorous Katie Holmes, Nicola Roberts and Emma Bunton all sporting one. It’s the ultimate ‘wash and go’ hairstyle: just blow dry and go.

Bobs look great with a bit of volume at the roots, or with a side fringe swept across the forehead. And they can suit everyone, due to the differing lengths and shapes of the cut!

For the more daring amongst you, the crop is an edgy, funky cut, but not for the faint-hearted! Think Victoria Beckham’s gorgeous, elfin cut. Crops can be tailored to exude femininity and softness: you don't need to just have long flowing locks to look girlie. It’s always best to ask your hairdresser for advice about extreme hairstyles like these, as they will be able to decide whether it would suit your face shape.

If you don't want to cut all your hair off, there are still changing your hairstyle to try with longer hair this season.

Big hair is back, thanks to the reinvention of ‘80s trends on the catwalks. Cheryl Cole is the queen of big hair, with her long chestnut mane. This is easy to recreate if you have short layers in your hair, as you can backcomb them for a bouncy look. If you're not sure about backcombing, try using some heated rollers on the top layer of your hair, which will give the same look without the damage.
